Crafted in Stroud since 1978
GK Joinery began over 45 years ago in a small workshop just outside Stroud. It was founded by Roger, and a close friend with a passion for timber and a dedication to doing things properly - no shortcuts, no compromises. That same spirit still runs through our workshop today.
A lot has changed since those early days. We've grown, moved to larger premises (twice), and embraced new tools and technologies. But our purpose remains the same: to craft beautiful, long-lasting timber products that bring both the satisfaction of quality and the quiet joy of everyday use.

A Family Business with Heart
Today, GK Joinery is proudly run by husband-and-wife team, John and Laura.
John’s father Roger led GK Joinery for decades, building a reputation for reliability, honesty, and solid craftsmanship. Over 10 years ago, after gaining experience and running his own successful joinery business, John joined GK joinery - bringing fresh perspective while continuing the values his father had built the company on. This allowed Roger to trade his chisel for golf clubs.
John honed his craft the old-fashioned way: by learning from the masters, sanding a thousand doors, sweeping a thousand floors, and developing a deep respect for a job done well.
Laura joined over five years ago, bringing a background in customer experience and employee engagement consultancy, along with a real care for people, thoughtful processes, and an eye for the little details that make a big difference. Together, she and John lead a team who love what they do, take pride in getting it right, and aim to make the whole experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Some of our team members have been with us for over 20 years - they’ve seen the business evolve, trained the next generation, and still take pride in every piece of joinery that leaves the workshop. Alongside them, we’ve welcomed new apprentices, learning the trade and carrying the baton forward.
We’re proud of that balance - experience and energy, tradition and innovation. It’s what keeps our joinery alive and thriving.
